Praia do Ancao
Praia do Ancao is a vast stretch of golden sand backed up by a protected reserve of sand dunes. The beach is located between Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago in the central region of the Algarve in Portugal. Despite being near to some busy tourist resorts, the sheer size of the beach means you should always be able to find yourself a spot away from the crowds.

The wooden fences behind the beach at Praia do Ancao were put up in order to protect the sand dunes which are a protected reserve, however over the years the fences themselves have taken a bit of a battering from the onshore winds.
