Faro
The capital of the Algarve in Portugal and home to the only international airport in the Algarve, Faro is a historic city surrounded by island beaches including Praia de Faro on the Ilha de Faro (Faro Island) and the protected reserve of the Ria Formosa nature reserve. Although Faro has seen much development over the years, the part of Faro known as 'the old town' still retains much of its natural charm.

Situated on the Ilha de Faro (Faro Island) is Praia de Faro, accessed by a one lane bridge from the main part of the city of Faro and the seemingly endless beach stretches for miles all the way up to Vilamoura in the west.

Arco do Repouso
Situated in old town Faro on the Algarve in Portugal, Arco do Repouso (The Resting Arch) is a doorway that gives access to the medieval walls, built by the Muslims during the Almohade epoch (12th and 13th centuries) in order to prevent the Christian invasion.
